傳承近300年的歐洲古典音樂血脈，德國的萊比錫布商大廈管絃樂團是世上最古老、最傳奇的樂團之一，不但是歷史上第一個完整演出貝多芬9首交響曲的樂團，布拉姆斯、華格納都曾親自指揮樂團首演作品，孟德爾頌也曾擔任音樂總監及總指揮，可說是交響樂發展的一部活歷史，對於後世影響甚鉅，至今仍是全世界人數最多的專業管弦樂團之一，以古董般圓潤柔滑的獨特音色，廣受全球樂迷的推崇。

第21任指揮安德里斯·尼爾森斯（Andris Nelsons）自2018年擔任萊比錫布商大廈管絃樂團音樂總監，其明快、活潑的指揮風格，彷彿為樂團注入了一股腎上腺素，展現出不同於以往的能量和音樂魅力。尼爾森斯也同時身兼波士頓交響樂團音樂總監暨指揮，曾於2016、2017、2019年與波士頓交響樂團錄製蕭斯塔科維契交響曲全集，並獲得3項葛萊美獎最佳古典管絃樂演奏獎，締造不凡紀錄。
